Ahead of the AU-EU Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, 57 civil society organizations from Africa and Europe are calling for a bold and equitable roadmap for climate justice, a fair energy transition, and green industrialisation.

The English-language statement outlines five key areas for action:

  • Strengthening Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in line with the 1.5°C limit
  • Phasing out fossil fuels and massively scaling up renewable energy
  • Reforming global financial systems to ensure fair access to climate and development financing
  • Significantly increasing support for adaptation and efforts to cope with loss and damage in Africa
  • Promoting local value creation, technology transfer, and green industrial development

The statement underscores that the AU-EU partnership must become more just, inclusive, and rooted in local priorities – moving away from fossil dependency and extractive investment models.
