Germanwatch-Arbeitsblätter: Klimawandel im Unterricht

Die „Arbeitsblätter zum globalen Klimawandel“ sind für den natur- und gesellschaftswissenschaftlichen Unterricht in der Sekundarstufe II ausgelegt (teilweise auch ab der zehnten Jahrgangstufe geeignet). Neben der allgemeinen Beschreibung von Wirkungsweise und Ursachen thematisieren sie auch die möglichen Auswirkungen des Klimawandels, insbesondere in ihrer regionalen Differenzierung. Es ist wichtig, das Thema „Klimawandel“ nicht nur unter umweltpolitischen Gesichtspunkten zu behandelt, sondern ebenso die entwicklungspolitische Dimension und die Frage der globalen Verteilungsgerechtigkeit mit einzubeziehen. Die Arbeitsblätter und die zugehörigen Materialien legen hierauf einen Schwerpunkt.

Loss and Damage: Roadmap to Relevance for the Warsaw International Mechanism

COP 19 in Warsaw decided to establish the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (WIM) under the Cancun Adaptation Framework to address loss and damage in developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. As a “milestone along a road of many years of policy discussions”1 decision 2/CP. 19 finally provides the legitimization to explore approaches to address climate induced harm conditioned by limitations of mitigation and adaptation strategies.

MENA CSOs/NGOs Working on Renewable Energy, Low Carbon Development and Climate Protection

Civil society actors are key agents of a transformation into a post-fossil society. They can influence policy-making and shape the awareness of the general public and specific constituencies, such as consumers, workers and farmers. With the aim to increase civil society involvement in the fields of renewable energy, low carbon development and climate protection in the MENA region, this study provides an overview of around 40 civil society and non-governmental organisations (CSOs/NGOs) from 12 MENA countries which would be interested to increase their political engagement.
